h yes, the question of Organic versus conventional – one that has been posed to us many times by various customers in regards to our topical magnesium products. Unfortunately, this question is not something that can be applied to a mined mineral compound like our magnesium chloride.
Why? Because magnesium chloride cannot be certified Organic – not to be confused with the organic and inorganic compounds in chemistry – since it does not fall under the USDA’s qualification, which states:
USDA’s National Organic Program regulates the standards for any farm, wild crop harvesting, or handling operation that wants to sell an agricultural product as organically produced.”
Realistically, though, people seeking products that are certified Organic are essentially looking for something that is pesticide-free, environmentally friendly, sustainably sourced, and from a company with “green” business practices. On that measure, you can rest assured that our magnesium products use the highest quality of ingredients and we do our utmost to ensure that, as a business, we are as eco-friendly as possible.
Our Products
Our original magnesium oil and our bath flakes consist solely of the concentrated magnesium chloride that is mined from the Zechstein seabed. We have our lab analysis available for viewing to anyone seeking the details of its composition.
The other applications within our Ancient Minerals product line – our magnesium lotion and magnesium gel – are also formulated to meet our rigorous standards.
Our Ancient Minerals magnesium lotion, for instance, contains: Purified water, Genuine Zechstein magnesium chloride, organic vegetable glycerin, organic simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, olive squalane, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, organic cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, organic butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, xanthan gum, caprylhydroxamic acid, and caprylyl glycol (plant-derived).
Our Ancient Minerals magnesium gel contains: Purified water, Genuine Zechstein magnesium chloride, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, certified organic ACTIValoe, and xanthan gum.
The Ultra product line, which includes Ancient Minerals magnesium oil Ultra and lotion Ultra, merely adds Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) to the formula for its numerous complimentary benefits. MSM is also not an agricultural product and therefore cannot be certified Organic.
All of the ingredients we choose are non-toxic, biodegradable, and organic where permitted. We do not use any fragrance, synthetic or otherwise, and only recommend adding pure essential oils if you wish to customize them to your own scent preference. Our Ancient Minerals line is also gluten-free, dairy-free, & vegan for those of you who are following strict dietary guidelines and wish your topical products meet those needs as well.
Our Packaging
You may have noticed, if you have ordered from us previously, that our products come wrapped in a special kind of material called Geami GreenWrap. Not only is the packaging 100% recyclable, but it’s made of recycled materials and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified materials as well!
The plastic bottles that we utilize are also fully recyclable and made of HDPE, which is a safe and sturdy type of plastic that has a high resistance to degradation – meaning that it won’t be leeching into your topical magnesium product.
We also utilize as much post consumer recycled products as possible in our boxes and printed materials.
